Are You Still Suffering from Sciatica?

I occasionally hear people moan that their sciatica won’t go in spite of the indisputable fact that they have done “everything” to lose it. Why is this? Are some of the people cursed to live hurting for the remainder of their lives? I actually do not think so. There is sometimes a more common problem behind it all. Here are a few of the common reasons why that sciatica just will not go away regardless of what you do.

Inflammation – Not a lot of people realize this, but soreness can actually cause many cases of sciatica or back trouble. But inflammation isn’t just something that results from injury. Inflammation can really be due to the foods in your diet

Foods that cause inflammation are high is saturated fats, trans fats, and have a high glycemic index. The majority of these foods aren’t good for your health any way, so eliminating your soreness might be a good opportunity to begin eating right and improving other sides of your well-being too.

Foods that reduce inflammation have omega 3 acids, vitamin D, and anti-oxidating agents. Again, these foods often fall under the “foods you know that you should be eating” category here, so these will help your general fitness too.

Covering Up the Agony – Sometimes people will simply take painkillers to relieve the agony they are experiencing. There is nothing wrong with this. Occasionally it’s necessary to dial down the intensity of the discomfort just so that you can get through the day.

The difficulty comes from thinking that simply because you took a pill to take away the discomfort, that the difficulty is figured out. In truth, whatever caused the sciatica pain is pretty much still there. In fact it could be worsening.

Remember, discomfort is there to tell you that there is an issue. If you use painkillers as a “solution” to sciatica, your problem may continue to grow worse and you’ll need to keep taking more and more painkillers to block out the ever-increasing pain.

Don’t hide from your sciatica with pain tablets, address the issue head on before it can become something actually serious.

Not Sticking with the Program – Another thing that folk who continue to be afflicted by sciatica appear to do is that they give up doing the stretching exercises that their doctor gave them, or they decide that some other treatment plan is too difficult for them to keep up with.

I understand that everyone is busy nowadays. Between work, running errands, and hanging out with your friends and family, it is hard to actually spare time to sit and do those stretches, get on that inversion table, or what ever you know you should be doing.

But time to be real here. You know that there is not “magic pill” to lose the issue. The only real way to find time to do what you have to do is to make the time to do those exercises and stop putting them off. It can help to consciously create a time management matrix to get your schedule in order to make sure you have the time.

The unknown causes of sciatica

Sciatica is a continuously misunderstood reason of lower back and leg pain. It produces multiple symptoms and it is not just a state.
